On Friday 16 October, the students at the MacKillop, Delany and Frawley Campuses will have a ‘Come Dressed as a Farmer Day’ with a gold coin donation to support the Rural Connect Program. The costume can be as simple or as elaborate as you like.
With 80% of Queensland still drought affected, we are adding our support to the project instigated by St Mary’s School at Laidley which raises money to purchase feed for sheep, cattle and working dogs on farms. The funds also go towards providing food vouchers and other important items bought from local rural businesses. Care packs containing the necessities of life are also distributed through this project.
Children will need to wear closed in, flat shoes and a suitable wide brimmed hat to provide protection. Clothing should cover the shoulders and should be appropriate for age and for the school setting. Year 5 and 6 students who will be attending Interschool Sport will need to bring their sports clothes to change into.
Thank you for support as we show solidarity with our rural communities.
Here are some videos you might like to show your children to explain “Dress like a farmer” day. The first one is from last year, but does a good job of explaining the rural connect program. The second has been put out by the students from St Mary’s this year.
